Celebrating National Science Week 2010!

New Addition:

Corin Storkey a synthetic organice chemist and PhD students at the Bio21 Institute at the University of Melbourne, will take the stage at 11.30am for a presentation on the science of chocolate and nuts! 

 

Monash Science Centre and Brains Matter have joined forces to offer a special National Science Week event on Sunday 15th August, 2010. Internationally renowned palaeontologist Professor Patricia Vickers-Rich will be interviewed by the "Ordinary Guy" of the Brains Matter podcast. Join the live audience to ask questions, win prizes and enjoy a wonderful and lively discussion of the biodiversity of our prehistoric Gondwana.

 

This exciting event is followed by "Lunch with the Palaeontologists" in which you will have to opportunity to informally discuss palaeo research, dig sites, field trips and more.

 

11am Centre Opens. Screening of Monash University Science Communication Documentaries.

11.30am Corin Storkey - The Science of Chocolate and Nuts

12pm Podcast Interview with Patricia Vickers-Rich

1pm Lunch with the Palaeontologists

3pm Centre closes.

 

Throughout the day visitors will be able to explore our exhibitions and children will be able to participate in hands-on activities.

Bookings for The Lunch are essential and will cost between 12 and 14 dollars per head. View the menu.

Unrestricted but limited parking is available on this date. Street parking on Normanby Rd and Howleys Rd is also available.
