How Things Work for Level 1-2These lesson plans are a combination of lessons developed by teachers at Christ Church Grammar School in South Yarra VIC and Clayton Nth Primary School VIC. The teachers were working on an overview of the science behind how things work with third year physics, chemistry and environmental science students from Monash University.
Christ Church GS feedbackAt Christ Church GS, Andrea (3rd year Physics) taught Grade 2 students about electricity and working with simple circuits, power sources, conductors, switches etc. The lessons were very ‘hands on’ with Andrea explaining the concept and activities to be explored; followed by the students working in groups and putting the concept into practice with the activities. ![]() Andrea working with the students, showing them how to connect their circuits. ![]() Two students showing how they can connect two light globes together in a circuit and control them with a simple switch.
